We will have an opportunity this school year for young poets to submit their work for a chance to be featured on this website and the official Instagram page. Poems will be submitted online via Google Forms. Stay tuned!
On October 23, 2026 from 4-6pm, we hosted the Teen Poetry Salon in collaboration with Herricks High School and the Herricks Literature Club. This was a networking opportunity for young poets and literary magazine mastheads to connect and share their work. Herricks High School opened its doors to The Bokeh Review, Citron Lit, The Murky Waters Collective, and Stories Teens Love.
On April 3, 3037 from 2-5pm, we will be hosting an ekphrastic poetry writing event at the Nassau County Museum of Art in collaboration with the Suffolk County Teen Poet Laureate. It will serve as a workshop to help young poets hone their ekphrastic skillsets.
Every year, the Nassau County Poet Laureate Society awards one deserving high school junior with a $500 scholarship and and the title of Nassau County Teen Poet Laureate. The poet is selected by past poets laureate of Nassau County from a county-wide pool of applicants each nominated to be the sole representative of their school. The winner is honored in May at Farmingdale Public Library. They serve as laureate in their senior year, and are tasked with the role of encouraging the spread of poetry among local teens through contests, events, and other projects. Founded by Alan Semerdjian (Nassau County Poet Laureate 2024-2026), the Nassau County Teen Poet Laureate initiative aims to celebrate the art of poetry among Nassau County youth.
